Auto Discovery
We *strongly* recommend you use Auto Discovery if you are using a supported Polycom or Aastra phone.
Using Auto Discovery
- Plug your phones into your local network (same subnet).
- Power your phones on and wait for them to boot up.
- Your phones will automatically download the configurations from your server and reboot.
Manually Add Device
There are 3 methods to manually add a device. The instructions for Support Local Phone apply to Unsupport Phones as well.
SIP DEVICE PASSWORDS ARE AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED.
Supported Local Phone
- Within your Admin Panel, navigate to Extensions --> phones
- Fill in the MAC and select the Vendor

- If the phone is a Supported phone, when you select the Vendor, the Desc field will auto-populate

- If the phone does not match any Vendor, choose Other and add your own Desc

- Click "Add Device" below
- Now, set the tftp server on the phone to: "s[server_id].trixbox.fonality.com"
- Reboot your phone
- Now click on Extensions in your Admin Panel and select the proper extension for this phone (if you haven't created the extension yet, please read How do I add an extension?)
- Select your newly created device from the list - devices that are already paired with an extension will display the extension in ( ) as pictured:

Supported Remote Phone
- Fill in the MAC and Vendor below.
- Click "Add Device" below.
- Now, set the tftp server on the phone to: "s[server_id]x.trixbox.fonality.com". Did you notice the x? :)
- Reboot the phone.
- If your phone cannot get its configuration from your [server_brand] server then:
- a. Set the "Proxy Server", "Registrar Server" and/or "Domain" options in the phone to "s[server_id]x.trixbox.fonality.com"
- Set the SIP username and password
- Reboot your phone.
Unsupported Phone (local or remote)
- Fill in the MAC and Vendor below.
- Click "Add Device" below.
- If LOCAL:
- Set the "Proxy Server", "Registrar Server" and/or "Domain" options in the phone to "s[server_id].trixbox.fonality.com"
- If REMOTE:
- Set the "Proxy Server", "Registrar Server" and/or "Domain" options in the phone to "s[server_id]x.trixbox.fonality.com"
- Note the x!
- Set the SIP username and password
- Reboot your phone.
