FONcall

FONcall is a Firefox plugin that makes any phone number on any page a click-to-call link.  Once you hold your mouse over the highlighted number, an image appears with the number formatted as an underlined link.  Click the underlined number and your phone will automatically initiate a call.

    Installation
    1. Make sure you are running Firefox 3
    2. Click on AutoAnswer
    3. You should see the FONcall download link.  Download the plugin and follow the on-screen instructions
    4. Login using your Web Username and Web Password
    5. The FONcall plugin sits in the bottom right corner of your browser - if you ever need to turn it off, just click on it once
    System Requirements

FONcall is available only for Firefox 3.0 + at this time.  We had a version compatible with Firefox 2 that has reached End of Life.

    What about other platforms?

FONcall will never be available for any browser other than Firefox due to licensing requirements for developers who wish to develop extensions for Internet Explorer or Safari.  Other open source browsers (i.e. Opera) do not currently control a compelling percentage of the browser market that would warrant engineering time dedicated to creating a compatible plugin.

    Troubleshooting

FONcall will not work for all phone numbers (certain International numbers may not match the search parameters for FONcall).  However, FONcall should recognize all North American 10-digit numbers as well as a wide variety of number formats standard in Europe, Australia, and many parts of Asia.

The first and most important troubleshooting step is to uninstall and reinstall the plugin.  Because FONcall is a Firefox plugin, whenever Mozilla provides a security patch or upgrade to Firefox, FONcall may stop working temporarily.

    FONcall & Flash

The FONcall pop-up box will be masked by certain flash objects embedded in your website.  If you test FONcall on your company's homepage and find that the pop-up box is not appearing properly ''and'' you have flash objects, you can resolve the issue by following these steps:

    Publishing from Flash

The HTML for a Flash movie can be created using the Publish Settings feature in Flash. The Publish Settings dialog box provides an option to affect the WMODE setting. The options selected in the Publish Settings will be added to the HTML source code automatically:

    1. Choose File --> Publish Settings. Select the HTML tab.
    2. Choose "Transparent" in the WMODE setting to make the Flash movie's background disappear in browsers which support this feature.
    3. Publish the document.
    Editing HTML code manually

To edit an existing HTML page, add the WMODE parameters to the HTML code.

Add the following parameter to the OBJECT tag:
    "<param name="wmode" value="transparent">"
Add the following parameter to the EMBED tag:
    "wmode="transparent""

The instructions above were taken directly from Adobe's KB
