If you live in a part of the world that uses a digit other than 9 to make a call outside your office, you will need to change the dial-out prefix from the default '9' to the standardized digit for your location.

For example, in North America, we traditionally dial 9 + (phone number) to make calls outside the office.  If your region uses 7 (for instance), you would want to change the default dial out prefix from 9 to 7 for every dial plan configured on your trixbox Pro .

    1. Click on Options --> settings
    2. Click the + symbol next to Call Routing Settings
    3. Click 'yes' next to Change Dial Out Prefix
    4. Click Apply All Changes
    5. Click on Options --> dial plan
    6. Change the dial out prefix from 9 to any other digit for each of your dial plans.  If you need information on editing dial plans, please read How do I edit an existing dial plan?
    7. Once you have updated all of your dial plans, you must restart your phone for your settings to take effect.  If you restart your phone once and make a test call using your new dial-prefix and your call fails, you should flash your phone.  Please search for the term flash at the top of our KB and choose the article matching the model of your phone.

Do not use a dial out prefix that matches the first digit of any extension on your server!!!

The dial out prefix must not be used as the first digit for any extension on your server.  For example, you cannot use '8' as your dial out prefix because dialing 8500 connects a caller to the voicemail system.  If you overlap a dial out prefix and an internal extension, chances are users will never be able to make outbound calls because the server will take every digit after 8 (assuming we use the example here) and try to make an internal extension call.
